September 18, 2024 I had gathered another pile of branches at the chipper, and decided that today would be a good day to start up the chipper and run them through. So, that is what I did! The pile of chipped material is much smaller than the original pile, and I think that if IContinue reading “A Chip off the Old Block”

Thursday I left Kona and the Big Island behind and flew to Honolulu on Oahu. We flew past Haleakala on Maui Then we passed Kahoolawe as well as Lanai and Molokai Then we approached Oahu flying past Ewa Beach. Then circled back, to land at Honolulu. Alanah had come from Arizona and we spent theContinue reading “October 5, 2023”

Sunday This morning, I went down to the ocean to watch the waves. The tide was in and the waves were crashing against the lava. The water even was flowing over the initial lava at the shore into an area that typically has very little water. My wading pool was full and overflowing into theContinue reading “May 14, 2023”

Farewell to Maui Wednesday While we were here on Maui, I had picked up two boogie boards, and two beach chairs – along with 8 to 12 baggies of sand from the various beaches we had visited. I wanted to take these all back to Hawaii island with me, so, I needed a checked bag, asContinue reading “May 3, 2023”

Tuesday The unit we are staying in at the resort has a washing machine and a dryer, so we took advantage of this and did a load of clothes. I wish I had brought more of my clothes from the Big Island so I could wash them a bit better. So it goes! The architectContinue reading “May 2, 2023”

Sunday Hauled more sand/gravel down the driveway to the gazebo. Moved enough to level the floor area between the columns. I finished with the pile dumped in the driveway and began working on the larger pile on the road. I tried driving the car down the driveway over the new gravel. I had difficulty gainingContinue reading “February 12, 2023”

Return to Paradise – 8/28 & 29
We went to the beach today. Ok, it isn’t a “beach” in the traditional Hollywood fashion, white powdered sand, waving palm trees, cabanas every ten feet, lounge chairs and cabana boys who bring you drinks with the little umbrellas – It is more of a shore line. A rocky shore line with short clifs whereContinue reading “Return to Paradise – 8/28 & 29”
Honomolino Beach
Not the easiest beach access, but definitely worth the effort. About an hour south of Kona there is a turn off to the fishing village of Miloli. The sign says that Miloli is 5 miles away. More like two miles – if in a straight line. At this point, the road is about 1,000 feetContinue reading “Honomolino Beach”
Hookena Beach
I had been in Hawaii for a week. I needed to return the rental car. I called the rental company and asked about changing the drop off location to Hilo. They told me that it could not be changed. The car MUST be returned to Kona on the scheduled day at the scheduled time. So,Continue reading “Hookena Beach”
